I am currently retired and am looking for part time security work. I currently hold a valid concealed carry permit in the state of Virginia. I am a life time member of the NRA and have received training in both the the mandatory concealed carry courses and the mandatory safety and firing qualifications for the Lafayette Gun club of which I am also currently a member in good standings. What else would I have to do to become an armed security guard? I also have armed security guard experience for Miller and Associates back in the 1970s in Alexandria Virginia. Thank you for your time.

I have a question in regards to obtaining a Virginia Armed Guard License. I am currently employed with the Virginia Department of Corrections as a corrections officer. I have gone through the firearms training as it’s a yearly requirement. Would I still need to obtain an armed guard license even though I’m still a corrections officer? Or would I just need a copy of my weapons card? I’m asking this because I’m trying to be an armed security guard and I want to make sure I meet any requirements. Thank you.
